They are! Entrance gates are being left open to prevent multiple people touching the same surface, but the off-leash areas are open.

At this time, we are working on a plan for the Shawnee Mission Beach to open in Phase 3 with limited hours. We will keep you posted as the plan progresses.
We had hoped to open by Memorial Day weekend, but now it looks like it will be no sooner than June 1st. We hope to open the Kill Creek Park marina for boat rentals mid-June. All rentals must be done online and in advance. No in-person rentals will be permitted until Phase 4.
Starting in Phase 3, playgrounds will be open with social distancing requirements!
It is not possible to sanitize the playgrounds effectively. We encourage washing hands regularly or using hand sanitizer.
Game on! Outdoor courts are open for use with limitations, starting with singles play only. These limitations change depending on the phase we are currently in.
Organized groups, such as scouts, can resume gatherings now as long as they adhere to mass gathering limitations and social distancing guidelines.
We’re aiming for KDHE licensed camps summer camps to begin on June 1, although we do have a few opening on May 26. We will train our staff and ensure proper measures are implemented for your child’s safety.
Outdoor camps will use buses during inclement weather. When fieldtrips are allowed, trips will be limited to 30 minute trips each way.
Each camper will be given details on hygiene, programming, transportation, food, visitors, etc. prior to the first camp. There will be specific check-in procedures for each camp including child wellness checks at the door. If your child is not feeling well, they will not be allowed to attend that day.
We hope so! The first four shows of the season have been cancelled, but we’re hopeful we’ll be able to invite you to watch “Mamma Mia” on July 31-August 8.

Depending on resources, we hope to open Mill Creek Activity Center up in Phase 2. Working with the City of Roeland Park, currently the plan is to open the Roeland Park Community Center June 1.

Yes! Volleyball will start again once we get staff and officials and other resources in place. There will be rule adjustments.
Softball/Fastpitch/Baseball as well as soccer will begin as soon as staff and other resources are in place. There will be rule adjustments.
Yes! There will be some rules in place, we do ask that only one parent/guardian attend with the child, and social distancing measures are practiced. For adult sports, we ask that spectators not attend at this time.
Yes, we are doing pre-booked tours for small groups and can start them in Phase 2. Tours will last 1.5 hours. Bookings will be taken on a first come, first served basis starting on May 27 by calling our reservation line at (913) 715-2570.
Beginning June 15, the nature center will open to the public on Saturdays only through Phase 4. The lobby will be open with limited access beginning June 1 for summer camp attendees only.
