1. How can I enroll if I do not know what session of Pre-K my child will be attending?

Sign
up now for all programming options you will need your child to attend.  JCPRD staff will work with the SMSD staff
regarding AM and PM class placement.

2. Explain how I set up my Pre-K Enrichment fees.

Fees
are set up via debit or credit card by you calling our Registration Office at
913-831-3359 and setting up your fees on a recurring basis and are charged
weekly.  Registration handles all fee
related questions not the site Program Director.  It is important to give an accurate e-mail
address on your enrollment form, as this is where your confirmation receipt
will be sent. 

3. May I provide you a copy of my child’s school physical and immunizations?

Yes.  Providing us a copy of your child’s
immunizations and physical is just fine. 
We cannot get a copy of this from the school nurse on our own due to
privacy laws.  You will still need to
complete the first page of the health form and sign the bottom, along with the
Personal Data Sheet and the Emergency Medical Release form.  You can scan and e-mail this to [email protected].

4. Does my Pre-K child eat lunch at school?

The
Pre-K children eat lunch in the school cafeteria with our JCPRD staff.  You may send a sack lunch with your child or
set up a lunch account with the school office so your child can eat a hot lunch
each day.

5. Are the Pre-K children required to nap?

NO,
we do have a few mats for children who may be tired at the beginning of the
school year or for children to rest on when they are not feeling well.

6. What type of activities will my Pre-K child be doing in the JCPRD Pre-K Enrichment Program?

Our
JCPRD Pre-K Program supports the SMSD’s classroom curriculum.  Our staff communicates on a regular basis
with classroom teachers so we know what skills are being focused on.  Children in our program are exposed to a
variety of activities such as letter and number recognition, Science,
environment education, cooking, healthy eating habits, scissor skills, fine and
large motor development, and much more! 

7. Does JCPRD Provide Pre-K Enrichment during Winter/Spring Break, school conference/in-service days and snow days?

Yes.  We consolidate locations on these days
due to reduced attendance numbers.  There
is a separate enrollment for Winter/Spring Break so you only pay for these if
you need to send your child.  The rate is
$35.00 for Winter/Spring Break days.  Conference/In-Service days are included in your regular weekly fee
payments.  JCPRD does provide programming on SMSD inclement weather days for families who have pre-registered to attend these days at the rate of $25 per day.  If the school district cancels school,  families who are pre-registered for inclement weather days will be charged whether in attendance or not.

8. Where to I drop-off/pick-up my child?

Drop-off and pick-up is done on-site at your school.  Specifics will be sent out by your site Program Director before school starts with these details as they may change year to year.

9. Will my child have to wear a mask?

Current safety protocol has PreK children earing masks while in school and in our programs.  Covid safety guidelines may change and be revised during the year.

10. My child drinks a lot of water throughout hte day. Can I send a water bottle?

Yes! We encourage all children to bring a water bottle daily and take it home every night to be washed.

11. My child will be attending After School, will they be mixed with the older children?

PreK children have their own classroom and own areas of the playground that are just for them.  They will not mix with the OST (school age) program at any time.

12. How will I know what my child is doing while at JCPRD?

Program Directors will communicate through online newsletters and emails about what is going on in their programs.  Quick conversations at drop-off/pick-up will also give you quick updates.

13. Does JCPRD provide snacks?

We do provide morning and afternoon snacks.  We serve healthy snacks of fruits, veggies, dairy, meat, and whole grains.  We do also check our class rosters for allergies.
