1. Are park bathrooms open?

Yes, park bathrooms are open.

2. Are the off-leash areas open?

Yes they are! 

3. Can I rent an outdoor shelter at a park?

Please do! Shelters are available for rent now and can be reserved here.

4. Will the marina open for boat rentals?

The Shawnee Mission Park Marina is open weekends in May and open for the summer beginning May 28.

5. Can my kiddos play on the playgrounds?

Yes, playgrounds are open.

6. Are the playgrounds going to be cleaned?

It is not possible to sanitize the playgrounds effectively. We encourage washing hands regularly or using hand sanitizer.

7. Can I use the pickleball/basketball outdoor courts?

Game on! Outdoor courts are open!

8. When can my organized group resume meeting at the park?

Anytime during operating hours. 

9. I want to participate in a 50 Plus or Special Populations activity. Will those still happen?

Things are happening now, give us a call!  We’re open.

10. When can I start using the fitness areas at Mill Creek Activity Center and Roeland Park Community Center again?

We’re open!

11. I want to lap swim or take swimming lessons at Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center, is that ok?

12. Can I attend my child’s league practice, game, or gymnastics class?

Yes! We highly recommend wearing a mask and practice social distancing.

13. When will the Johnson County Museum be open to the public?

We are open now. We are doing pre-booked tours for small groups. Tours will last 1.5 hours. Bookings will be taken on a first come, first served basis, please call our reservation line at (913) 715-2570.

14. When can we visit the animals at Ernie Miller Nature Center?

The lobby is open to the public from 9 am - 5 pm Monday through Saturday and Sunday 1 pm - 5 pm.  Wearing a mask and social distancing is highly recommended.  Ernie Miller Park is open for exploration from dawn to dusk.
