SMSD Aquatic Center has been reopened for 45 days!

COVID-19 has provided some challenges in all aspects of life, but we have found a lot of excitement seeing everyone again in the facility. Thank you to everyone that has been back to visit the facility whether it has been to lap swim or to join one of the Masters practices. If you haven't made it back to the facility yet, we look forward to seeing you back in the facility when you feel comfortable.

COVID-19

We appreciate everyone following all of the SMSD Aquatic Center Reopening Plan and the guidelines within it. Following these guidelines continues to keep our guests and staff safe.

Johnson County Department Health and Environment continues to report an exponential increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases. JCPRD is working directly with the JCDHE Director and Deputy Director to ensure that we maintain safety protocols to continue to allow for safe recreation at our facilities. Please continue to do your part inside and outside the facility to keep yourself and those around you healthy.

Masters Practice Schedule

We are entering a transition period of scheduling for the facility. The Shawnee Mission School District Boy's Swim and Dive team start their season in mid-November.

No need to adjust your calendars! With this transition we were able to maintain the same practice days and times. Please note that there will be days that we will have to cancel Masters swim practices for events including swim meets and invitationals.

Get your Membership Online

We are excited to announce that we now sell SMSD Aquatic Center Memberships online. Now in the comfort of your home or on your mobile device, you can get your membership online. Once purchased, your receipt will act as your membership. On your first visit to facility, staff will need to take your picture and will print your membership card and you will be all set.

Not only can patrons purchase a new membership online, but our existing members can renew their expiring membership online.

Thank you to our Coaches

We want to thank our Masters coaches for their hard work prior to opening, and now that we are open. They have been working diligently to ensure they are helping provide a high quality program for our patrons while also modifying practices to maintain a safe practice. This has been no easy task, but they continue to work hard to ensure we get to continue to enjoy a program that is much needed in many of our lives. Thanks coaches!

Winter Weather is Coming

We have been so lucky with weather and feels like spring this week. We all know that winter is coming and I wanted to provide a reminder of the SMSD Aquatic Center's Weather Policy.

In the event that Shawnee Mission School District is closed due to inclement weather, the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center will also be closed for the morning hours. Decisions will be made on evening practices, programs and facility opening for the evening during that day.
