Here's a sampling of programs JCPRD has coming up for the week of July 18 - 24:
July 19 - Youth Group Swim Lessons (Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center, 17251 W. 87th St., Lenexa, 31 classes in eight levels beginning; Ages 6 months to 12 years, times, class durations, and costs vary) - Lesson levels include: Baby & Me, Tot & Me, Preschool A, Preschool B, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4. July 22 - Special Interest: Gardening - Tour of Shawnee Indian Mission (Virtual Program, Ages 50 Plus, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., FREE) - A representation of an operational farm between 1839 and 1862, this garden teaches the cultivation of vegetables with a historic emphasis. Hear from a Kansas State Extension master gardener about the many heirloom plants cultivated in this garden. Activity number 9235.
July 22 - Exercise: Tai Chi (Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park, Ages 50 Plus, Thursdays, 5 to 5:50 p.m., 4 sessions, $36 per person, $40 nonresidents) - Tai Chi offers a slow and gentle exercise with benefits in endurance, flexibility, and muscle strengthening. July 23 - Discovery: Kids' Night Out (Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, Ages 6 to 12 Plus, 6 to 9 p.m., $15 per person, $17 nonresidents) - Bring your swimsuits! Play outdoor water games, make your own ice cream, and more! Please register at least one week in advance. Dinner included. Activity number 9780.
