Container gardens have been called “the instant gratification of the gardening world,” and you can learn to make your own during a free virtual class being offered in early February by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
This program is called simply Container Gardens. Instructor Merle Sharpe, who has put together hundreds of container gardens during her time at Chicago Botanic Garden will teach many tips and tricks to let novices expand well beyond spikes and red geraniums. To find this program online at JCPRD.com/Activities, browse first under 50 Plus and then under enrichment and special interests. When using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “special interest.”
Container Gardens will take place beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9. This one-hour program is free, but registration is required. All registered participants will receive an email with a Zoom link and instructions on how to proceed. For more information contact Tiffany at firstname.lastname@example.org. To register by phone, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at JCPRD.com, click on “Activity Search,” and search for activity number 7921.
While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-2975 for space availability.
The My JCPRD Activities catalog is available for pickup at Johnson County Library branches and at all JCPRD facilities.
