Your Little Critter will enjoy three hours of fun and education on the selected Thursdays through mid-May as you enjoy some personal time during a program being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s Outdoor Education Department. Physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices will be encouraged during these programs.
Little Critters Day Out is the name of this program for ages three through five, which will take place at the Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 N. Kansas 7 Highway, Olathe. Activities will vary but participants will have a snack, make a craft, play games, and see an animal visitor each day. Each program has a theme, and all sessions take place beginning at 9 a.m. on a Thursday. February sessions are: “Fairytales & Fables” on Feb. 4 (activity number 7766); “Nature’s Valentine” on Feb. 11 (activity number 7767); “My 5 Wild Senses” on Feb. 18 (activity number 7768); “Animal Hibernation” on Feb. 25 (activity number 7769);
Other themes and sessions this season are: “Who Sings in Spring” on March 4 (activity number 7770); “Turtle Races Beaver” on March 11 (activity number 7771); “Ice Age Exploration” on April 1 (activity number 7772); “Forest Peak-A-Boo” on April 15 (activity number 7773); “Spring Colors” on April 22 (activity number 7774); “Light as a Feather” on April 29 (activity number 7775); “Bug Hunt” on May 6 (activity number 7776); and “Spring Peepers” on May 13 (activity number 7777).

The cost per three-hour session is $19 per person for Johnson County residents, or $21 per person for nonresidents. A monthly bundle is offered at a discount for those registering for all four available Thursdays in a month this season at a cost of $65 for Johnson County residents or $73 for nonresidents. You must register for all four dates in the same month at the same time to receive the discount.
