Helping young gymnasts improve or master back and front handsprings is the goal of a gymnastics program being offered in late January by the Gymnastics Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District. Physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices will be encouraged during this program.
Called simply Handspring Clinic, this single-session coed program is intended for ages six to 14. Participants should already have Level 2 or 3 gymnastics skills. For an optimal learning experience, it is encouraged for participants to have a round off, and bridge bend kick over.
To find this program online at JCPRD/Activities, browse first under youth then under gymnastics. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “gymnastics.”
This Handspring Clinic will take place beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, at the Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee. The cost for one one-hour session is $15 per person for Johnson County residents or $17 per person for nonresidents. For more information or to register by phone, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at JCPRD.com, click on “Activity Search,” and look for activity number 7176.
