Playground replacement now under way at Kill Creek Park

Kill Creek Park Playground Rendering

Work began during the last week of October on the removal and replacement of the playground near Shelter #4 in Kill Creek Park. The playground and its general area will remain closed to the public during this process, which expected to take approximately 45 days, weather permitting.

Nestled within a beautiful natural setting, the 897-acre Kill Creek Park first opened in November 2001 and has four picnic shelters, a swimming beach and marina, a virgin prairie area with an observation deck, over 12 miles of hiking, mountain bike, and equestrian trails, and also includes 1.5 miles of paved, shared use trails for walking, running, and bicycling. The recently dedicated Russell and Helen Means Observation Tower offers magnificent views of the park and beyond.

Kill Creek Park is located at 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe. Beginning Nov. 1, the park’s winter hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Feb. 28.
