A new early October outdoor 50 Plus Pickleball Tournament was recently announced and will take place at the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s Meadowbrook Park, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village. Social distancing and COVID-19 safe practices will be encouraged during this event.
This Meadowbrook Park Outdoor Pickleball Tournament can accommodate 50 players. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Player ratings will be used for assigning brackets for men’s and women’s matches, as well as mixed play in the 3.0/3.5, 4.0, 4.5/5.0 divisions. This tournament is for players who will be 50 or older by Dec. 31, 2020.
Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton, and table tennis played on a court with two players per side who use a wiffleball and paddles.

The fee for this one-day event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., is $26 per person.
