Search for hidden caches in Shawnee Mission Park using our GPS devices during and early July special event being planned by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District. Physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices will be observed during this program.
S’mores Family Geocaching is the name of this event, which is for all ages, and will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, at Shawnee Mission Park’s Shelter #2 on the north side of the Small Lakes area. This modern day scavenger hunt is a great way to spend time with the family out in your local park. Each group will be loaned a GPS device and given instructions on how to find the caches hidden around Shawnee Mission Park. Receive a prize after finding the caches, then enjoy hot dogs and S‘mores. Those registering as individuals will each receive a GPS unit to use; participants registering as a group of four or less will be loaned one GPS unit; while those registering as a group of seven or less be loaned two GPS units. Pre-registration is required.
