New 50 Plus Step-by-Step Canvas Painting for Beginners class set for July 29

A fun class of step-by-step canvas painting techniques for the true beginner is being offered in late July by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

The program is called Step-by-Step Canvas Painting for Beginners.  Brushes and all other art supplies are included, and coffee beans will be brewed to enhance friendly conversation! Take home your work of art and feel proud of your new-found talent.

This program was not included in the May through August My JCPRD Activities catalog, but you can find it online at by browsing first under 50 Plus and then under  art. 

Step-by-Step Canvas Painting for Beginners will take place beginning  at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park. The cost for this two-hour program is $37 per person for Johnson County residents or $41 per person for nonresidents. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359 or register online at 

While the JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-2975 for space availability.
