New Petite Picassos art programs for kids set for Feb. 26

Mom and daughter art

Pablo Picasso lends his name to a new single-session art class for young children being offered at two locations in late February by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

Petite Picassos is the name of this program, which is for ages three to six. Participants will join a teaching artist in the art studio as they read a book, look at art work, and create a thematic work of art! Parents are welcome and encouraged to join this class.

To find this program in the My JCPRD Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under preschool and then under fine & performing arts. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “art.”

Petite Picassos is offered on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at two locations. One class will meet at 10 a.m. at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center (JCAHC), 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, while the other will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Mill Creek Activity Center (MCAC), 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee.

The cost for one 45-minute class is $5 per child. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at www.jcprd.com, click on location you are interested in -  JCAHC session, or the MCAC session. Additional Petite Picasso sessions are planned for March 26 at JCAHC and at MCAC and April 30 at JCAHC and MCAC.

The My JCPRD Activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
