Sharpen your pencils and bring your family stories! Family history tells us who we are and where we come from. But genealogical records sometimes lack the personal details that communicate just how interesting families can be. In this workshop, participants are encouraged to take their research and turn it into story form. Capture family lore that has been passed down for generations, describe that uncle that showed up at Thanksgiving, or recount grandma’s cooking. Travel to the places your family lived and write about what they saw. The workshop includes writing exercises to create characters and identify compelling topics. Presented by Kim Stanley of McPherson College in partnership with Humanities Kansas. Bring a lunch.
