JCPRD Summer Camps

Posted on April 29, 2020 at 11:53 AM by Becky Burnside

As we get closer to the start of summer camps, we find ourselves facing even more uncertainties than we have faced in recent weeks.  We are excited to get back to work providing fantastic camp experiences and programs for your child, and yet, as you know, information and guidelines change weekly, daily, and sometimes hourly.  We are working with local and state authorities to ensure we comply with these guidelines that are being put into place for the health and safety of our communities, and are waiting for additional information that is key to summer camp operations.  At this time, we are intending to move forward with summer camps as scheduled; however, we know that there will be additional guidance coming out in the days and weeks ahead that will either confirm our plans or alter them in some way.  While we know that this does not provide comfort, we also want to be open and honest with our families.  We are currently in a holding pattern.  JCPRD is actively working on a re-opening plan that will include important details like adjusted camp capacity, cleaning protocols and many other details to ensure we can offer a safe and positive environment for both our staff and camp attendees. Some of our camps depend on the use of schools.   This is an important logistic we are working to resolve as soon as possible. The JCPRD camp coordinator associated with your site or location will be reaching out personally when we have updated information on dates and re-opening plans.

We do understand that this uncertainty may cause working parents to seek out other options to ensure that child care needs are met as we move into summer.  While we want nothing more than to serve the needs of every one of our families, we get it.  And we will provide refunds as needed. Ultimately, we want our families to have what they need, and in this case it may include relying on our community’s resources outside of JCPRD (i.e. home providers).  We are all in this together, and we look forward to spending time with your children very soon! Stay healthy!
