Day Trips
Let us take the worry out of driving and planning as you enjoy a full day of entertainment, education, and fun. Prices for daytrips include tickets, admission, guided tours, meals (unless noted), tips, transportation, and a tour escort. Trips depart from Antioch Park in the lower level of the north parking lot. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time for motorcoach boarding.
Cancellation Policy: Pre-paid ticket costs and a $5 processing fee will be deducted from cancellation refunds. Within seven days of trip, cancellations are non-refundable. For more information or to register, please call 913-831-3359.
Day Trip: Step Back in Time
Visit Jamesport, Mo., and take a step back in time as we enjoy a step-on guided tour through this Amish community. Drive by a working farm, school, the home of a Cinderella carriage builder, and more. Stop and see a creamery before heading to lunch. After lunch, enjoy shopping at the grocery, fabric barn, bakery, and antique shops.

Day Trip: Rolling Hills Zoo and Museum
Join us for a trip to Salina, Kan. to walk on the wild side at the Rolling Hills Zoo. Enjoy the ease of a guided tour tram pass to explore the whole park. You'll encounter big cats, primates, mammals, birds, and reptiles. Your ticket will gain you access to the elaborate onsite Wildlife Museum. Explore habitats across African Plains, Artic Tundra, Rainforests, and more. Boxed lunch and coffee with donuts included. Registration deadline is Monday, September 18. Moderate walking is to be expected if not using tram. Steep hills and some uneven pavement if not using tram.

Day Trip: KC Fountain Tour
Kansas City is the City of Fountains. Take a guided one-mile walking tour around the Barney Allis Plaza and hear about the beautiful fountains that adorn Kansas City. After lunch at Jack Stack on the Plaza, enjoy time shopping and visiting cafes on your own.

Day Trip: OZtoberfest in Wamego
Celebrate the fall season and all things OZ in Wamego, Kan. Attend events in the Columbian Theatre, tour the OZ Museum, watch or participate in an OZ costume contest, visit the outdoor OZ Market, Classic Car Show, Wizard’s Beer & Wine Garden, Auntie Em’s Boutique, Dorothy Through the Years Fashion Show, and other OZsome activities. Enjoy a catered lunch as a group at the nearby event center. Extensive walking is to be expected.

Day Trip: Basketball and Battlefields
Before the Phog, there was Naismith! Learn all about the history of James Naismith, the founder and first coach of basketball at the University of Kansas. Experience a first-person reenactment of the life and legacy of James Naismith, by Bill Nicks. Enjoy stepping off at several locations before heading to lunch as a group. After lunch, we switch topics and hear Mr. Nicks guided step-on tour of Quantrill’s Raid. See famous sights and hear stories about the impact Quantrill had during this time in history. The day ends at the Dole Institute of Politics for a self-guided tour. Light walking to be expected.

Day Trip: A Dicken’s Christmas
The holiday spirit will be in the air as you find yourself in Warrensburg, Mo., for the annual Dicken’s Christmas Festival. Characters dressed in era clothes will roam the streets while you enjoy chestnuts on an open fire, hot chocolate bars, vendors, craftworkers demonstrating and selling their crafts, horse drawn wagon rides, and various street entertainment throughout the day. Your ticket includes entry to the Tiny Tim Soup Stroll, where you’ll sample soups from various shop locations throughout the day. Meet for lunch as a group at a nearby restaurant.

Hit the town on a social outing to discover a new city, a boutique, restaurant, or local event. Meal costs are on your own, and transportation will be in district vehicles. Outings depart from Antioch Park.

Social Outing: Brazilian Bites and Beats
They say the best way to experience a culture is through its food. Join us for an evening of culture at Brazilian Academy of Jiu Jitsu in Olathe. We will be given an overview of the academy and Brazilian culture. After, watch a demonstration of Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art with deep historical roots and drums. You will even have the chance to participate in the class if you’d like. Before leaving, enjoy a specially prepared three-course meal at their on-site café. This trip includes dinner.

Social Outing: A Christmas Carol at KC Rep Theatre
Join us for a festive performance of the timeless tale, A Christmas Carol, at the KC Repertory Theatre. Seats are limited. The time and date for this trip is TBD. We will know in August if this trip will be held on December 7th or December 19th. Anyone who registers will be notified of the date confirmation as soon as we are confirmed. The pre-paid theatre ticket cost is non-refundable at time of registration.
