Day Trips and Social Outings

Let us take the worry out of driving and planning as you enjoy a full day of entertainment, education, and fun.  Prices for daytrips include tickets, admission, guided tours, meals (unless noted), tips, transportation, and a tour escort.  Trips depart from Antioch Park in the lower level of the north parking lot.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time for motorcoach boarding.

Cancellation Policy:  Pre-paid ticket costs and a $5 processing fee will be deducted from cancellation refunds. Within seven days of trip, cancellations are nonrefundable


Day Trip: Dogs and Daredevils
Travel to Topeka, Kan. and discover the wild world of Evil Knievel at the famous Evil Knievel Museum. After the tour, enjoy lunch and travel onto Washington, Kan., to the KSDS Assistance Dog Inc., training facility. See where they train these loyal companions to serve people who are physically disabled and/or visually impaired.

Day Trip: Under the Sea
Travel to Springfield, Mo. to visit the unbelievable underworld attraction, Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium. Enjoy an entire day exploring creatures from all around the world. With over 1.5 miles of exhibits and 800+ species, this interactive journey will take you on an adventure you won’t experience anywhere else. Enjoy lunch at the café at your leisure using a $25 gift card. Extensive walking and standing are to be expected on this trip.

Day Trip: Locked Up in the State Pen 
Travel to Jefferson City, Mo., and take a guided tour through the Missouri State Penitentiary and learn why it was called “the bloodiest 47 acres.” See places like cells, the dungeon, and even the gas chamber. Learn about escape attempts, riots, female inmates, and more. Enjoy lunch at Prison Brews Grill and Bar and end the day at Colonel Alvin R. Lubker Memorial Safety & Education Center. Here, you’ll learn about the history of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and see exhibits on display. Extensive walking and standing are to be expected on this trip. Stairs will also be used on tour.

Social Outings

Hit the town on a social outing to discover a new city, a boutique, restaurant, or local event.  Meal costs are on your own, and transportation will be in district vehicles.  Outings depart from Antioch Park.

Social Outing: Medical Marvels
Take a trip to the Clendening Museum of Medicine at University of Kansas Health Systems. Learn how the medical center has transformed over the past 100 years, see special exhibits throughout different areas of the museum, and explore medical artifacts throughout the century. Enjoy lunch as a group at a local restaurant.
