Daytrips

Let us take the worry out of driving and planning as you enjoy a full day of entertainment, education, and fun.  Prices for daytrips include tickets, admission, guided tours, meals (unless noted), tips, transportation, and a tour escort.  Trips depart from Antioch Park in the lower level of the north parking lot.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time for motorcoach boarding.

Cancellation Policy:  Pre-paid ticket costs and a $5 processing fee will be deducted from cancellation refunds. Within seven days of trip, cancellations are nonrefundable


Day Trip: Calling All Quilters 
Enjoy a day made for quilters in Hamilton, Mo.!  Before getting started with all things fabric, visit the J.C. Penney Museum.  Next, tour the Missouri Quilt Museum and see over 300 quilts from different time periods, 600 toy machines, and 200 antique machines.  After lunch at a local Mexican restaurant, dive into the endless fabric shopping at four of the Star Quilt Company locations.

Day Trip: St. Mary’s and Museums 
Travel to Nemaha County in Seneca, Kan., and tour a handful of museums including the County Museum, The Fire Department Museum, The Temple of Honor, and one of the largest hand-dug wells. After lunch, enjoy one of 8 Wonders of Kansas Art, St. Mary’s Church at Saint Benedicts. This guided tour will leave you in awe of the beautiful stained glass, architecture, and artwork.

Day Trip: A Rare Day Indeed
Visit the Kansas City Public Library for a guided tour of the library, original bank vault, and current exhibits. Hear about the history of the decline of banks in the downtown area as they gave way to the library district and learn about the rich architecture of the building. Finish with a tour of their collection of rare books and artefacts that live onsite. After, tour the Money Museum at the Federal Reserve. Lunch included.

Day Trip: The Mane Event: Clydesdales at Warm Springs Ranch
Giddy up to Boonville, Mo. and visit the Warm Springs Ranch to see where the Budweiser Clydesdale horses are bred. See luxury trailers, the 1903 beer wagon, equipment worn by the Clydesdales, and of course meet the horses. After lunch, travel to a lavender farm and pick your own fresh bundle. Learn how to dry lavender to make aromatic use of it. 1 – 11.5 hr. trip - $142 (includes lunch)

Day Trip: Milk and Tea
Visit the Shatto Milk Company and experience the process of bringing milk from farm to table. Sample their various flavors and have time to shop the store. For a light lunch, enjoy a full tea party, tea sampling, and learn about the various tea blends. Before heading back, enjoy time shopping and exploring in the booming downtown of Liberty, Mo .

Day Trip: Chocolate Lovers Mystery Trip  
All you need to know is to be prepared to consume chocolate! Take a guided bus tour around Kansas City as we visit some of the most well-known chocolate shops in the area. Sample delicious chocolate throughout the day and have the opportunity to shop for sweets along the way. Hear a bit about the history of each company as well as morsels of information about Kansas City.

Day Trip: Hey Ike, The Phone's for You
Visit Abilene, Kan. and tour the Eisenhower Museum and Library. Spend a moment at the Place of Meditation, where Ike and his wife are buried inside a beautiful stained-glass chapel. Tour the Telephonic Museum to learn about the role of a telephone operator or dial a rotary phone during the time of the Independent Telephone days. See how the telephone industry has eveolved into what it is today. After lunch at Ike's Place, take some time to shop the various antique and collectible stores in downtown Abilene.

* Lunch and Learn: Meet President Eisenhower
Come meet President Eisenhower at Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse. Bill Nicks, first person reenactor, will come dressed as Ike and share historical stories with us. In honor of Eisenhower, we'll enjoy a hearty meal of chicken and dumplings with all the fixings in a socially inviting environment. Registration deadline is Friday, September 23.

Travel to the German town of Hermann, Mo. to indulge in wine tasting, German food, and beautiful fall foliage.  Enjoy touring popular wineries while enjoying this cozy town.  Please expect a good amount of walking and standing on this trip.

Day Trip: Holiday Historic Homes
Tour a lineup of beautifully dressed mansions this holiday season. Start the morning off at the Wornall House for a guided tour. Then, tour the Strawberry Hill Museum where you will also enjoy a multi-cultural lunch and povitica. Next, take a guided tour by Bill Nicks dressed as Moses Grinter, himself. Come see how these historic homes in Kansas City dress up for the holidays.

Social Outings

Hit the town on a social outing to discover a new city, a boutique, restaurant, or local event.  Meal costs are on your own, and transportation will be in district vehicles.  Outings depart from Antioch Park.

Social Outing: The Crown Experience 
Enjoy a day at beautiful Crown Center. Start the morning at Chips Chocolate Factory with a fudge making demonstration and samples. After the tour, it’s off to shop the gold standard of shops, such as Halls, Hallmark, Crayola, various boutiques, and more.  Pick where you dine in the food court or various restaurants available. Later, tour the newly-renovated Hallmark Visitors Center.

Social Outing: “Freaky Friday” at The New Theatre and Restaurant 
After dining at the delicious on-site lunch buffet, enjoy the live musical production of “Freaky Friday”. A teenager and her mother switch bodies for one day to see what it’s like in each other’s shoes.

Social Outing: Victorian Spirits
Join us for a spirited day in Kansas City and tour the Union Cemetery. Hear about the people buried here and their stories. After lunch, visit the Vaile Mansion in Independence, Mo. for a presentation on funeral customs of the Victorian Era. This trip contains uneven surfaces, multiple levels of stairs, and steep outdoor walking areas.
