TimberRidge Spring & Summer Camp Programs
2022 Spring & Summer Camp Schedule

Registration for 2022 camps goes live on 1/24/2022 at 6:00 am.
Remember we moved to a new registration system in 2021. Please make sure you are able to login or reset your password before 1/24/2022. Our camps do tend to fill up quickly once registraion is open. Once registered you will receive an email with a link from our secure health and emergency portal, ePact, to fill out electronic forms for your child to attend camp. Forms must either be recieved in ePact or brought with camper on the first day of camp.
NATURE & SCIENCE CAMPS REFUND POLICY:
Refunds will be granted for camps with the keywords Nature & Science only when all of the following conditions are met.
- A replacement must be available from our wait list or you must find a replacement.
- A written request must be received two weeks in advance of the camp week.
- Each request must state the reason for the withdrawal.
- These may be e-mailed to [email protected] or faxed to (913) 831-6336. No phone requests.
- Each canceled week is subject to a $15 processing fee to be deducted from the refund amount. Please allow two to three weeks to receive any refunds.

The Digital Camp Guide is available for viewing on January 15th, 2022. Online Registration opens at 6:00 am on January 24th, 2022.
Registration links are provided below with the course number, however they will not be active for viewing until 1/15/2022 and registration will not open until 6:00am on 1/24/22.
Nature & Science:TRAC Amazing Adventures Camp (Ages 11-13)
Experience four days of outdoor adventures with us! Campers will spend time learning outdoor skills: archery, bb guns, canoeing, fishing, swimming, climbing, and zip line. Participants will meet at Ernie Miller Nature Center and take a bus to TimberRidge Adventure Center (TRAC). Each participant will need a health and liability form signed by a parent or guardian to participate. For more information call Outdoor Adventure Specialist Lysa Holladay Dvorak at 913-856-8849. Note: Camp meets 9 am - 3 pm. There is no before and after care provided for this camp.

Nature & Science: TRAC Biking Camp (Ages 12-14)
Experience biking trails with us! Campers will spend time riding trails at different locations along the Mill Creek Streamway Park in the mornings and swimming and boating in the afternoons. Participants will meet at Shawnee Mission Park Shelter #12. Each participant will need to bring a helmet and their own bike in good working condition. For more information call Outdoor Adventure Specialist Lysa Holladay Dvorak at 913-856-8849. Note: Camp meets 9 am - 3 pm. There is no before and after care provided for this camp. Enrollment is limited to 12 campers.

Nature & Science: TRAC Climbing & Rappelling Camp (Ages 12-14)
Experience climbing and rappelling on our 40ft tower. Learn how to tie knots, belay, and team belay. This instructional camp will focus on learning the skills needed for climbing and rappelling. We will swim and canoe in the afternoons. Each participant will need a health and liability form signed by a parent or guardian to participate. Campers must be 12 years old by the first day of camp due to the high-risk nature of this camp. Participants will meet at Ernie Miller Nature Center and take a bus to TimberRidge Adventure Center (TRAC). Nature & Science: TRAC Fishing & Boating Camp (Ages 11-13)
Do you enjoy fishing? Join us and meet new fishing buddies. We will fish at TimberRidge Adventure Center (TRAC). Participants will be introduced to canoeing and have access to pedal boats and kayaks. Campers will also learn about different baits, identifying fish, and hopefully catch lots of fish! Campers need to provide their own pole and tackle. Campers will swim, but the majority of activities will be fishing and canoeing. Participants will meet at Ernie Miller Nature Center and take a bus to TimberRidge Adventure Center. Nature & Science: TRAC Junior Biologist Camp (Ages 12-15)
This hands-on camp will provide an opportunity for your budding biologist to explore the natural world. A biologist will lead them through adventures, biological techniques for measuring and observing wildlife populations, and a variety of outdoor skills. Camp activities will include hiking, fishing, stream exploration, native plant and animal identification, archery, boating, wildlife observation, nature journaling, and aspects of population biology. Participants will meet at Ernie Miller Nature Center and take a bus to TimberRidge Adventure Center (TRAC) Note: Camp meets 9 am - 3 pm. There is no before and after care provided for this camp.

Nature & Science: TRAC Photography Camp I (Ages 12-15)
Do you love to take pictures and want to learn more about photography? Learn about nature photography with us and meet new friends with the same passion. This camp for beginners includes classroom-style instruction on camera basics, practical tips, and the ethics of nature photography. Campers go on daily adventures to practice skills in the field and will take a fieldtrip to Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. Camp concludes with a photo exhibit; parents are invited to attend and view the best of campers’ photos on display at Ernie Miller Nature Center. Participants must bring their own digital cameras for use during all activities. Other activities during camp may include boating, and archery. Participants will meet at Ernie Miller Nature Center. Nature & Science: TRAC Photography Camp II (Ages 12-15)
Do you love to take pictures and understand the basics of photography? Join us to make new friends and develop your photography skills while you learn more about exposure, shutter speed, depth of field, and other advanced concepts. This is NOT point-and-shoot photography. Campers go on daily adventures to practice skills in the field. Trips include the Overland Park Arboretum and the Kansas City Zoo. Camp concludes with a photo exhibit; parents are invited to attend and view the best of campers’ photos on display at Ernie Miller Nature Center. Participants must bring their own digital cameras for use during all activities and are strongly encouraged to take Photography Camp I prior to Camp II. Other activities during camp may include boating, and nature hikes. Participants will meet at Ernie Miller Nature Center. Nature & Science: TRAC Sailing Camp (Ages 12-16)
Harness the wind and feel the exhilaration of sailing! TimberRidge Adventure Center in conjunction with Johnson County Sailing Society will provide an introduction to the basic skills necessary to control a sunfish sailboat. Campers will learn how to tie knots, steer and trim according to wind direction, right a capsized vessel, and right of way rules. Life vests will be provided and worn, however participants must be comfortable in and around water and pass a basic swimming test. Sailing will take place on Shawnee Mission Park Lake and participants will meet at Park Shelter #3. This camp will be dependent on weather and days may be cancelled due to thunder, lightning, or uncooperative wind conditions. Due to safety, enrollment is limited to 6 campers.
