If you are looking for a park setting - or just something larger than the backyard or living room - for a special event, wedding or reception, the Johnson County Park and Recreation District has several options from which to choose.
We have the perfect spot for you:
Unique Mildale Farm, in Edgerton, Kansas, is the perfect place for your special event. The facility consists of four fantastic buildings (featuring lodging and large gathering accommodations) and is situated on 22 acres of the more than 600 beautiful acres that make up Mildale Farm. This locale is sure to meet your every need and provide a setting that will create lasting memories for your once-in-a-lifetime event. Alcoholic beverages are permitted. The Helen Cuddy Rose Garden and Memorial Arboretum in Antioch Park provides a lovely wedding background. The peak blooming time for the roses is during June and into July. This facility is available by reservation only. The rose garden is used for weddings only and is not available for receptions. Shelter 4 at Antioch Park has a large gazebo located on the shore of the South Lake. This park has undergone some renovation and now features both a new bridge and a boardwalk skirting the South Lake. Additional parking has also been added just north of Shelter 4. Shawnee Mission Park provides a variety of shelters with a beautiful outdoor setting. The Small Lakes area at Shawnee Mission Park provides an unusual opportunity to be married on an open island. Shawnee Mission Park not only is a fantastic venue for wedding photos but for engagement photos as well. For more information or to reserve a shelter, email Registration.
Heritage Park provides 10 picnic shelters (two large capacity), a 40-acre lake, marina and picnic areas. For more information email Registration.
The Green Room at Heritage Park Golf Course is an indoor facility with a capacity of 110 guests. Alcoholic beverages are permitted. For more information, contact JCPRD Facility Rentals.
The new Meadowbrook Clubhouse event space is an indoor area with a capacity of 150 guests. Alcoholic beverages are permitted. For more information, contact JCPRD Facility Rentals.
The Pavilion at Theatre in the Park is located adjacent to the theatre and is the perfect venue for your wedding event. This beautiful pavilion features a limestone fireplace, a fire pit, attached restrooms and ample parking. The pavilion has picnic table seating for up to 225 guests and you may bring additional seating to accommodate up to 400 guests. For more information, contact JCPRD Facility Rentals.
The Elmridge Room in the Tomahawk Hills Golf Course Clubhouse is the perfect place to hold your next meeting, reception, or party. The 34 by 47 foot room seats up to 120 with ease. It includes 15 round tables, seating for 8 at each table, and it includes a 43 by 11 foot dance floor, which can accommodate 4 more tables, seating 32 additional if necessary. The Elmridge Room amenities also include a catering bar and kitchenette with a microwave oven, sink, and refrigerator. Alcoholic beverages are permitted. TimberRidge Adventure Center is an exceptional place to plan a rehearsal dinner, wedding, and reception. The site offers two locations to plan your event. The Welcome Center is an indoor facility with a beautiful wrap around deck, full size kitchen and can accommodate up to 80 people inside. The Whispering Pine Shelter is outdoors, has a limestone fireplace, attached restrooms, and can accommodate up to 200 people. We also have two gorgeous ponds for pictures and a wonderful view. The Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center is the perfect place to host your next event! We offer a few different rental options including our Event Space, Black Box Theatre, Dance Studio, Rehearsal Studio, and Museum. For more information, contact JCPRD Facility Rentals.

Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Phone lines are open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Reservations for facilities are “as is.” Requests for other uses (tents, etc.) may require a Special Use Permit. For weddings being held in district parks, a JCPRD Wedding Permit is required. There is a per-event fee for Johnson County resident and nonresidents, but this fee is waived when a park shelter or the Helen Cuddy Rose Garden is reserved in conjunction with the event. As a general rule, the district's parks are oriented toward recreational activities and green space, as opposed to displays of flowering plants. The exception to this would be Antioch Park, which has several planted areas.
