Coffee Creek Streamway Trail opened to the public in October 2017. The trail head is located in Heritage Park near shelters 9 and 10. The trail extends 3.4 miles east to Switzer Road. Like JCPRD's other trails, the paved trail was designed for pedestrians and bikes only. Motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Future Implementation
No funding or time-frame has been set for the trail's next phase, which is expected to take the trail roughly 1.5 miles southeast to where Coffee Creek converges with the Blue River, just west of 69 Highway and northeast of the Overland Park Arboretum. Other agencies, including the city of Overland Park, are planning trails along the Blue River.
