• 1998: US Army determined to dispose of SAAP
• 1998: JCPRD submits proposal for a no-cost transfer to the National Park Service
• 2004: Sunflower Redevelopment Group formed and acquired entire 9,065 acres
• 2005: An agreement for approximately 2,000 acres to be transferred to JCPRD post clean up at no-cost
