JCPRD Theatre Academy is excited to announce its winter show … MEAN GIRLS JR! Get ready to bring the Plastics, Burn Book, and iconic one-liners to life on stage! We're buzzing with excitement to bring this hilarious and oh-so-relatable story to our local community.
Our Winter Theatre Academy is for performers in 7th - 12th grade for the 23-24 school year and academy enrollment is audition based. Academy staff will determine casting for the show, and those cast will have one week to finish registration through JCPRD’s registration program to secure their role in the production. Rehearsals begin December 21-29 from 9am-4pm (no rehearsals Dec 23-25). Performances are Dec 29 at 7:30 pm and Dec 30 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. All rehearsals will take place at the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center, with performances in the Blackbox Theatre at the AHC. Sign ups for auditions TBA.
This Academy production will be run as all Theatre in the Park Mainstage Productions are ran - to give our young performers the chance to participate in a rehearsal process that focuses less on instruction, and more on performance. The Winter Theatre Academy production centers itself around producing an exciting, riveting, clean, and well rounded production. The Theatre Academy will continue it’s Summer tradition of educational and instruction programs, and all the Winter sessions will be focused more towards performance.
