Cooking: Making Macarons Demo Virtual

Delicate and delightful, macarons are becoming a popular dessert for the home baker to attempt. Our experienced macaron maker will walk you through the steps while giving tips and tricks for making a successful macaron. The best part, a sample of these delicious treats are included for you to enjoy at home while watching the program! Macaron pickup is Oct. 5 from 8 am to noon at Roeland Park Community Center.

Special Interest: The Skeleton Speaks- Forensic Anthropology Gives Light to Solving a Crime

Hear from Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Alexandra Klales, as she presents an interactive discussion on how the human skeleton helps identify unknown persons and how they interpret skeletal trauma to aid in the determination of the cause and manner of death. Participants can try their hand at applying some methods used in forensic anthropology to try and identify characteristics of the remains. This presentation contains photos and remains and may be considered graphic.

Exercise: Virtual Chair Yoga 

Take yoga off the mat and onto the chair, incorporating breathing with movement while retaining all the benefits of yoga. Use the chair for support if needed during standing poses. Special Interest: We Were Beachside Once

Kansas is certainly not a state associated with beachside living, but over geological time, what is now Kansas has not only been near an ocean, but sometimes it has been under the ocean! In this presentation, KU Geology Professor Alison Olcott will take you through a tour of the geological history of the state, including how the rocks around us formed, and what the fossils in those rocks tell us about the animals that used to live where we do now.
