Beaches

Johnson County Park and Recreation District has two Beaches: Shawnee Mission Park Beach and Kill Creek Park Beach. Whether you're looking for a great spot to build a sand castle or cool off in the lake, Johnson County Park and Recreation District has what you are looking for. Kill Creek Park Beach is closed for the 2020 season.

In response to COVID-19, the Shawnee Mission Park Beach will have modified operations and hours for the 2020 season to encourage physical distancing and a safe environment for our visitors and staff.  Two time blocks will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, through Sept. 13, plus Monday, Sept. 7. Visitors to the beach will either choose the 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm or 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm time block. Reservations will need to be completed online in advance. All patrons will be asked to leave the facility once their session concludes to allow staff to clean the facility.

Closed: Monday - Wednesday

Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7: 12 - 2 pm & 3 - 5 pm
Closed: Monday - Friday

12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Beach admissions can be booked 7 days prior to the day you wish to visit and must be completed 1 hour prior to the start time for that day.
