Games: Intro to Mah Jongg
Learn the basics of this classic tabletop game from an experienced instructor. Each player receives a current Mah Jongg card to take home.

Games: BINGO

BINGO!  Delight in food, prizes, fun and 12 games of bingo. Variety of prizes awarded including gift certificates. Please pre-register at least one week in advance. Payment is required at time of registration. For the enjoyment of all participants, children are not permitted to attend 50 Plus Bingos. Cost of admission covers snacks and staff time to administer the bingo program. No additional charge for bingo.

Gardening: Gardening with a Master Gardener (Virtual)

What is this plant?  How do I grow or do this?  What should I put in my garden?  So many questions and no one to ask until now.  Join the K-State Extension Office on a variety of gardening topics and be free to discuss your gardening questions with a Master Gardener.

When should I clean the garden without interrupting the lifecycle of the pollinators that make a home in those garden litters?  Often a confusing subject but need not be.  We'll cover this topic so it will become commonsensical to you going forward.

Special Interest: Planetarium – The Apollo Missions

NEW! Join us for an immersive look back at the Apollo Missions that first brought mankind to a world beyond the Earth. We will end our program with a virtual trip to the moon and a look at the landing sites and interesting geologic features of the lunar surface. Will need to step over about 6 inches through a zipper in the planetarium and stay in a chair in the planetarium for 45 min. If accommodations need to be made, please contact us ahead of time. Program presented by Ernie Miller Nature Center.

Gardening: Pizza Planters (Windowsill Herbs) 

NEW! Kitchen windowsill herbs bring fresh flavors to anything you cook. Rosemary, basil, thyme,and others grow especially well on a windowsill. Come plant and take home your own herbs to create your windowsill garden. Class is led by Meadowbrook Park Landscape Specialist. Supplies are included.

Special Interest: Wits Workout

You are never too young or old to get started training your brain. Participants will take part in interactive activities designed to exercise the brain to maintain and enhance cognitive function and memory. A session will consist of a pen and paper activity and an educational topic on memory, brain health, or health and wellness. Program presented by K-State Extension.

Special Interest: Lunch & Learn-Vibrant India

Experience a taste of Indian culture with a lively performance and presentation by the Indian Association of Kansas City. Enjoy a flavorful Indian lunch before the presentation. Immerse yourself deeper into the culture and join 50 Plus as we journey to India in November of 2024. Sign up date is 4/5/24. The presenters for this event will be on-site.

Health & Wellness

Tai Chi: Tai Chi for Arthritis

Tai Chi for Arthritis differs from a non arthritis specific Tai Chi class in that the movements stay closer to the mid line of the body to help with balance.  Similarly it offers the same slow and graceful exercise that has been proven to improve balance, reduce stress and offer arthritis pain relief.  All experience levels welcome in this course.  Classes are on-going, start at anytime. No class, Monday, 9/6.

Exercise: Classical Stretch 

LOW INTENSITY: Classical Stretch, or Essentrics, is a dynamic, full-body workout that simultaneously combines stretching and strengthening, while engaging all 650 muscles. Perfect for all ages. Participants need to bring a yoga mat, large towel, and water.

Exercise: Gentle Yoga

LOW INTENSITY: Gentle Yoga is performed at a slower pace, with less intense positions, and includes extended time for meditation, yogic breath work, and relaxation.

Exercise: Ageless Lifters

LOW INTENSITY: Engage each muscle group in your body. This full body workout is achieved through high repetition sets and strength training exercises. This class uses dumbbells and body weight exercises.

Exercise: Chair Yoga 

LOW INTENSITY: Take yoga off the mat and onto the chair, incorporating breathing with movement while retaining all the benefits of yoga easily from a chair.  Standing balance poses may use the chair for support as needed. Option to attend in person or watch live via Zoom. Beginners are welcome.
