THEATRE IN THE PARK ACADEMY CAMP - ZOMBIE PROM (6th-12th grade; ages 12-18)
Pretty High School Senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage.
AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, SEPT. 29 from 12-5pm in Rehearsal Rooms A & B at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center. Auditioners should bring an mp3 track (or sing acapella), and be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song. There will also be a brief movement/dance audition, so wear appropriate footwear. Auditioners must stay for the entire audition process unless they have a conflict that has been previously discussed with the Theatre and Performing Arts Coordinator, Elena Stephenson-Campbell, [email protected].
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of auditions with a parent/guardian to fill out a waiver and audition form! Parents MAY NOT leave their child at auditions without filling out the forms.
Those who are invited into the production will then register for the camp through a link provided by email. All music and materials must be memorized by the first day of rehearsal 12/20. Camp cost is $400 for residents; $440 for non-residents.

All About Improv! (Ages 12-16)
In All About Improv students will be able to explore the basics of acting on their feet and in the moment! Improvisational theatre is unscripted and created and performed spontaneously in the moment. In addition to learning how to “act in the moment” students will be able to learn the basics of sketch comedy and build their own sketch comedy routine.
Musical Auditions (Ages 12-16)
Students will have the unique opportunity to rehearse and create the perfect “16 Bar” Musical Theatre Audition. Through the guidance of a professional teaching artists/music director students will get the opportunity to be coached into selecting the perfect audition song for themselves and their range. The class will culminate in a musical theater showcase for family and friends.
Masks and Puppetry (Ages 6-10)
Students will get the opportunity to explore puppet playmaking, turning ordinary objects into extraordinary puppet characters! Halfway through the course students will get to switch gears and build their very own cultural arts mask to go alongside an original ensemble physical theater piece that they create.
