Accessible visual arts classes and workshops for all levels and all abilities. With a small student to teacher ratio, our Teaching Artists are able to provide a personalized experience for every student. All supplies are included, unless otherwise noted in the activity description.

Mini Ceramic Ornaments (Ages 16+)


Holiday OrnamentsMake a series of mini ceramics ornaments for the holidays while exploring different ceramics tools and techniques. Ornaments will be fired in the kiln and available around two weeks after the class date.

NEW! Art & Identity Art History Lecture Series (Ages 16+)

A special lecture series at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center presented by Emily Alley, Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication at Avila University. This lecture series explores identity in media, ranging from paleolithic cave art to video games. Each lecture is premised in the philosophy of Structuralism, the idea of culture as modern mythology, which we both influence and adopt. Attend one lecture or all four; the lectures all relate to the overall theme of Art & Identity and can be registered for individually.


Art & Identity lectures are FREE to attend but registration is required to reserve a spot.

Enjoy a special evening with your special someone as you do a one-time workshop exploring clay together. All couples welcome. Cost is per couple. Only one person of the couple need to register.

Want to learn the basics of drawing or just work on sharpening your current skills? Whether you want to upgrade your journaling, improve the foundational drawings for your paintings or just sketch for fun; this class will walk you through the basic aspects of drawing.

Blue ceramic fairy house


Make your own ceramics house for a fairy garden. You will learn hand-built ceramics and glazing techniques during this class.

Bookbinding (Ages 16+)

Have you ever wanted to make your own books? Learn how to make a variety of different artistic and unique books in this class. You’ll stitch together books like look like creative versions of what you’re familiar with but also learn to make new types of books you may have never seen before for creative journaling, sketching or gifting.
