Olathe Medical Center's Women's Triathlon and Expo
Olathe Medical Center is proud to sponsor the Women's Triathlon and Expo, the first of its kind in Kansas. We are dedicated to improving the health of our community, including providing state-of-the-art medical care and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Open swim at Kill Creek Park
Every Monday from 6-7:30pm until August 25th, JCPRD will have open swim hours for triathletes and others interested in getting practice. Swimmers are asked to wear a swim cap and must enter the lake through the beach area. This is a great way to prepare for this event.

The Triathlon Course
The women’s triathlon event featuring a Sprint Distance triathlon in Kill Creek Park, operated by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District. The swim (500 meters) is an out and back course with a standing water start. The bike course (10.6 miles) is a partially hilly loop course, held both within and outside the park boundaries. The run (2.6 miles) is routed on the Kill Creek Trails which adjoins Kill Creek Park. This route provides some of the most beautiful natural surroundings in the region. Aid stations are at transition and every mile on the run. Championship timing-system will be used. The award ceremony will follow the event at Shelter #2. Results will be posted onsite and will be on the web at www.onlineraceresults.com (see below)by 3pm race day.

Eligibility
This event is open to all women ages 15 years and older. Competitors under the age of 18 must have parental or guardian consent (see registration form). Requests for reasonable accommodations will be made for special needs participants.

Three Divisions:

Individual Division

All participants will be ranked in the following age divisions in the short and long course. Professionals will be in a separate division

Teams Division

Teams are a great way to get your friends, co-workers or family members involved in a triathlon. Form a team in any one of these divisions: family, friends, corporate, and club.

Athena Division
This division is for women over 150 lbs. Awards will be given based upon these categories, 150 lbs 39 yrs and under, and 150 lbs, 40 yrs and over.

Awards
All entrant receive an event T-shirt and swim cap. Age group and team (each team member) awards given as follows:

1-5 entries
(1 award)
6-10 entries
(2 awards)
11-15 entries
(3 awards)
16-20 entries
(4 awards)
21+ entries
(5 awards)

Heat Criteria
Heats begin at 7:30AM on the Beach. Those faster tri athletes, regardless of age, wishing to begin in the opening heat, MUST CHECK THE OPENING HEAT BOX on the registration form. The opening heat is limited to 60 participants determined by the fastest estimated swim completion times and having checked the box on their registration form. The Triathlon Committee reserves the right to limit or cancel entries in the Opening Heat. All other heats will be by age groups and start in 5 minute intervals. Refer to the USAT Rules & Regulations.

Packet Pick-Up

Confirmation notice and additional information will be emailed or mailed following processing of entry forms received by August 27. Packets must be picked up by 8 PM Friday, September 12. Saturday pick up, from 5 - 5:30 AM, is for out of town participants only.

Entry Deadline
Entries limited to the first 400 entrants. Online entries will be taken until the event is filled.

Triathlon Guidelines
1.) An entrant may not transfer her entry. Substitutes will not be allowed to participate.
2.) A helmet with an approved CPSC, ASTM or SNELL safety seal is required and must be worn and latched during the bike segment.
3.) Participants will be provided with , and must wear, a bright colored swim cap during the swim segment.
4.) We suits are not allowed if the water temperature is above 78 degrees.
5.) Cycling positioning (drafting) is not allowed and will result in disqualification. A mount and dismount line is marked in transition. NO riding is allowed in transition.
6.) Headphones will not be allowed.
7.) All first-time tri athletes must attend the pre-race meeting Friday, September 12, at 6 PM at Kill Creek Park Marina.
8.) The triathlon committee reserves the right to alter or cancel the event in case of inclement weather, or conditions beyond our control.

Race Results
Race results will be posted onsite and by 3 PM, Central online at www.onlineraceresults.com on race day.

2008 Women’s Expo

Along with the Olathe Medical Center Women’s Triathlon, we are excited to announce the addition of a Women’s Expo. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with numerous wellness vendors regarding all areas of women’s health. Screenings, including cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure, will be provided by the Olathe Medical Center. Learn about fitness, make-up, jewelry, volunteer opportunities in the community and more! This free event will be open to tri athletes & spectators only from 9:30 - 10:00 am and open to the general public from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Early Registration Drawing Bonus
Register before 5pm on August 8th, 2008 for the triathlon and you will be eligible for a drawing for a $500 Gift Certificate from BikeSounce; your leader in MultiSport gear. The drawing will be held the day of the event at the awards ceremony; winner does not need to be present to win.

Women’s Zorrel Microfiber Training Tee
Each Pre-Registered athlete will receive a women’s Zorrel microfiber training tee! These shirts are made for women and run a size smaller than your normal cotton t-shirt. Order accordingly to insure the right fit for you!
