The Kids’ Klassic - Benefiting The Jordan Lee Brooks Scholarship Fund
Developed by Johnson County Park and Recreation District and Olathe School District's Briarwood Elementary School, the Kids Klassic was created to benefit the Jordan Lee Brooks Scholarship Fund. Jordan Lee was a student at Briarwood Elementary School who suffered from asthma and finally succumbed to the disease in the summer of 1998 at the age of nine. JCPRD is proud to host the event and to provide assistance to benefit the Jordan Lee Brooks Scholarship Fund to help improve the quality of life for our youth.

Everyone Is Eligible
The event is open to kids of all ages, that means grown-ups too! Adults are welcome to enter and are encouraged (but not required) to enter with a child. All paid participants receive a Kids Klassic T-shirt, post-race refreshments, a medal and will be eligible for prize drawings.

Three Course Choices
Participants have a choice of a five-kilometer (3.1 mile) or a two-mile route and although a clock will be located at the finish line with a time display, this event will not be scored. All children who finish the five-kilometer (3.1 mile) or the two-mile route race will receive a medal. There will also be a free (no registration required) half-mile fun run/walk for kids six and under that will begin at 10 a.m. and all children who finish the half-mile fun run/walk will receive a colorful finishing ribbon.

Awards - Everyone Is A Winner

Of course everyone who runs or walks in the event is considered a winner but there will be medals and finisher ribbons awarded to all kids at the end of their walk/run.

Registration
The cost is $12 for children and $14 for adults until Oct. 2 and $14 for children and $16 for adults after that date. Early registration is advised. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by Monday, Sept. 29, while walk-in registrations must be received by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2. Participants can also sign up from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday Oct. 3 and from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on race day at Heritage Park.
