Required
Patrons who attempt to occupy a shelter without a reservation run the
risk of having to vacate the shelter immediately upon arrival of a group
holding a reservation. Reservation Verification
Please have a copy of your reservation form available to verify your
shelter reservation. Special Use Permits
Requests for other uses (tents, pinatas, water balloons, music, commercial
services - catering, photographs, etc.) require a Special Use Permit.

No alcohol is allowed in the parks or at shelters with the exception
of TimberRidge Adventure Center where a special permit is required.

Reservation Changes
Changes are subject to $5.00 processing fee and must be made at least
2 business days in advance of reservation date. Off
Season Reservations (October 16 thru April 14)
Reservations for a shelter during the “off-season” months
are available at half of the regular shelter rental fee. Reservations
can be made through the JCPRD Registration
Office at (913) 831-3359. Note: There are no working restroom
facilities or running water at shelters during the “off-season”
months. Shelter Capacity Limits
Medium shelters have a maximum capacity of less than 100 guests. Large
shelters have a maximum capacity of 100 or more guests. Shelter
Times
Half days* are 8 a.m. to 1:30p.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Full days* are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
*Exception - Antioch Park Shelters Close at 9 p.m. MEDIUM SHELTERS

We strive to keep our parks clean and safe for your health and
enjoyment. Even so, to reduce your chances of exposure to germs
or chemicals we encourage you to use general common sense when using
our picnic facilities. We recommend using table coverings, keeping
food on plates and in containers, and cleaning hands thoroughly before
eating and after direct contact with benches, tables, and other public
surfaces.

JCPRD campground reservations are only available for
Not-For Profit Youth Organizations at Shawnee
Mission Park. Time segments are 12 pm to 12 pm the following day.

No charge for earlier arrivals when available.

Are you planning a picnic or team practice? JCPRD can provide the
recreational equipment to ensure the success of your event. The game
bag includes one set of horseshoes, soccer ball and cones, wiffle
ball, bat and bases, football and flags and a frisbee. The game bag
is available for rental for $35 for Johnson County Residents and $39
for Non-Residents. A refundable $75 deposit is required.

There are no reservations needed for the Antioch
Park and the Shawnee Mission Park
tennis courts. They are on a first come - first serve basis. No lights
except for District-sponsored lessons.

Need a room for a wedding reception, a retirement
party, a post-tournament celebration, a business meeting, or company
picnic? JCPRD has several indoor and outdoor facilities for rent.
Call the numbers listed below for more details or to schedule a site
viewing tour.

The Ernie Miller Nature Center has
rooms for meetings, including its rustic main exhibit room, with a
large wood- burning fireplace. Small kitchen with limited space and
equipment. The outdoor amphitheater seats approximately 80 persons
and has a stage for entertainment and announcements. Alcoholic beverages
not allowed.

The Heritage Park Golf Course Green
Room is a spacious room with wet bar, scenic window views, seating
for 110, restrooms and is not attached to our golf clubhouse. Catering
can be arranged. Alcohol permit available upon request. Note: Reservations
usually booked far in advance. Ample parking.
Opening in the spring of 2011, the New
Century Fieldhouse is our 88,000-square foot facility and will
be Johnson County's premier indoor sports and multi-use facility.
It will offer many youth and adult sports leagues and includes artificial
turf field for soccer, football and lacrosse field sports. It also
has multiple court configurations for basketball and volleyball court
sports. Our New Century Fieldhouse also offers field rentals for team
practices year-round with indoor comfort. For information about the
field, court and room rental opportunities available at New Century
Fieldhouse, or to learn more about the sports leagues and other programs
that will be offered at the facility, please call (913) 826-2850.

Whether you’re looking for an entire indoor sports facility
or a single practice court, Okun Fieldhouse
has the space you need. Located within the Mid-America West Sports
Complex at 20200 Johnson Drive in Shawnee, the 56,500-square-foot
fieldhouse features four basketball courts, eight volleyball courts,
and concessions. Individual court or full facility rentals are available.

The Roeland Park Dome is a great choice for
a lock-in graduation celebration or other activities that require
a large amount of space. Chaperones are required for most events.

The Theatre In The Park is one
of the best outdoors venue in the metro area, with over 10 acres in
Shawnee Mission Park with a state of the art lighting and sound
system. This venue is perfect for special events, festivals, corporate
gatherings, fundraising events, and other public attractions where
you need a large amount of space, a city-wide location and a reasonable
price. Reservations can be made for special catered events followed
by entry to a regularly scheduled, talent full theatrical performance.

The TimberRidge Adventure Center offers
both indoor and outdoor facilities. Our newly renovated outdoor shelter
accommodates 200 people. It is equipped with an outdoor fireplace
and attached restrooms. The shelter overlooks our scenic Catfish pond.
Our indoor facility, the Welcome Center, is available for any event.
It includes a full size kitchen, restroom facilities, a large outdoor
deck which wraps around the building and a meeting room that accommodates
80 people. The view from the Welcome Center deck overlooks our beautiful
Nessie's Lagoon. Other amenities available upon request include: the
Challenge Course, the climbing tower, canoes, paddle boats, archery,
bb gun range, hiking and fishing (state license required).
