Volunteers Needed
Bluebird volunteers at Heritage Park.

Bluebird Nest Box Monitoring- Johnson County is the bluebird capital of Kansas due to the hard work of dedicated volunteers. Bluebird volunteers gather information from the nearly 400 nest boxes around the county. Volunteers monitor how many eggs have been laid, hatched, and the number of chicks fledged. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the JCPRD biologist.

Volunteer Land Stewards
A volunteer group dedicated to restoring and protecting natural areas within the JCPRD. Clearing brush, removing exotic plants, organizing work days and collecting native seed are just a few of the activities where land stewards can assist. Contact the JCPRD biologist if you are interested in working with JCPRD to improve a park near you. Contact: Matt Garrett at (913) 826-3440.

Kansas City Wildlands
JCPRD is a partner in this coalition of professionals, organizations, and citizens focused on restoring and managing the remnants of the Kansas City area’s original landscape. KC Wildlands work days take place on JCPRD sites throughout the year. Click here for an event near you. Contact: Matt Garrett at (913) 826-3440.
