The Johnson County Park Police department
offers law enforcement's most unique and rewarding career path.
Our Park Police Officers provide law enforcement services for
millions of park visitors each year and they patrol nearly
10,000 acres of park land, water impoundments and associated
recreational facilities. The parks are patrolled by police cruisers,
four wheel drive vehicles, boats, bicycles, snowmobiles and
by foot.

Park Police Officers also present a large variety
of environmental and cultural interpretation programs ranging
from living history to live wildlife presentations and hands-on
ecology offerings. These year round educational opportunities
offered to the general public provide over 1,000 programs for
preschool through senior adult audiences.
A Park Police Officers job is varied, requiring persons with
an aptitude for - and dedication to - police work, public relations,
visitor services, public speaking and education.
Job Description
Entry level position takes calls for service, patrols to deter
and detect crime, investigates complaints, cites and/or arrests
law violators, assists park visitors, protects facilities and
park resources, enforces Kansas laws and District Park Codes,
leads outdoor recreation programs and presents educational programs
on cultural and environmental topics. Scheduled hours provide
for a 40 hour work week with overtime, holiday, weekend and
shift work required.
Job Qualifications
For consideration an applicant must be a United States citizen
at least 21 years of age, be able to pass physical and psychological
examinations, hold or obtain a valid driver's license, have
no felony convictions and be able to pass a background investigation.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and
experience is required.
Salary
$34,756 - $54,080
