Shawnee Mission Park will be open overnight for fishing only and park police officers will be on duty throughout the night. A Day in the Park at Shawnee Mission & Kill Creek Parks Join us for this free, day-long celebration of our community’s trails, parks and recreational spaces. There will be a wide variety activities for the entire family throughout Shawnee Mission Park and along the adjoining Streamway trail. There also will be free admission to the beaches at Shawnee Mission and Kill Creek parks, and free pedal boat and canoe rentals at the marinas in Shawnee Mission, and Kill Creek parks. The event is being held in conjunction with National Trails Day and coincides with JCPRD’s annual free fishing weekend when both Kansas and District fishing and boating permits are waived. Paws in the Park at Shawnee Mission Park Beach Unleash your dog for a water party! Held in conjunction with our annual A Day in the Park event, Paws in the Park provides an opportunity for dog owners to enjoy Shawnee Mission Lake while swimming their pooch and participating in water activities. 50 Plus Pickleball Tournament at Tomahawk Ridge Community Center JCPRD’s 50 Plus Program is hosting two Pickleball tournaments this summer! This first one at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, and a second one that will be held at New Century Fieldhouse on August 25. There will be awards presented in three divisions – Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. There’s an entry fee of $15, and T-shirts will be available for $5 and lunch for $6.
